Removal Advice – What we need to pay attention to in our new house

One of the basic criteria in choosing a house, besides rent cost and the house’s condition, is whether our belongings fit in our new home. For that, we need to measure the dimensions of the furniture and examine the layout in our new house. We should also measure the dimensions of the walls and the opening of the doors. A plan of the house would help us very much in that. Also, we need to measure the height of the new house (internally) because if we have a very tall piece of furniture (closet, bookcase, showcase etc.) it might not fit. Especially if we move from an old house (which is more high-ceilinged) into a new one.

The most common problems are the following:

Our fridge might not fit in the kitchen’s fridge space, our washing machine might not fit in the bathroom and a proper water supply might not exist (the previous owner might have had a built in washing machine in the kitchen). Our bed might not fit with the commodes on the side because the bedrooms of the new houses are usually smaller.

Moreover, the two-door refrigerators of a closet type might not fit to pass from the kitchen’s door, and if we have ceiling illuminants that are hanged with a wire, we should notice whether our new house has the necessary infrastructure (usually this is not foreseen in new houses and the fixation of the illuminants must be made by drilling).

In general, careful planning and good inspection of the house we’re moving to will save us from a lot of unpleasant surprises.
